4.5 Fake Customer Support Scams
How scammers impersonate CryptoBazaar support staff and how to verify genuine support communications.
§How Fake Support Scams Work
Scammers create social media accounts, Telegram channels, or WhatsApp numbers that mimic CryptoBazaar's official branding. They use the platform's logo, colour scheme, and similar usernames to appear legitimate.
These fake support agents may contact you proactively, claiming there is an issue with your account, a pending trade, or a security concern. They may also respond to support queries you post on public forums or social media.
The scammer's goal is typically to obtain your account credentials, convince you to send crypto to a specific address, or manipulate you into releasing escrow in an ongoing trade.
§How to Identify Fake Support
CryptoBazaar support will never contact you through WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram direct messages, or any channel outside the platform. All official support communication happens through the CryptoBazaar platform or official email addresses.
CryptoBazaar support will never ask for your password, seed phrase, private keys, or OTP codes. If someone claiming to be support asks for any of these, they are a scammer.
Be suspicious of unsolicited contact. Legitimate support teams respond to your requests; they rarely initiate contact without a prior support ticket or inquiry from you.
Check for grammatical errors, unusual urgency, or requests that do not match normal support procedures. Scammers often create artificial urgency to prevent you from thinking critically.
§What to Do If You Encounter Fake Support
Do not share any personal information, account credentials, or cryptocurrency. End the conversation immediately.
Report the fake account to CryptoBazaar through the platform's official support channel. Include screenshots of the conversation and any details about the scammer's account (username, phone number, profile link).
If you have already shared account credentials with a suspected scammer, change your password immediately and enable two-factor authentication. Contact CryptoBazaar's legitimate support team to secure your account.
Report the fake account to the platform where you encountered it (Telegram, WhatsApp, Instagram) so it can be taken down and prevent others from being targeted.
